2018 suicide case: chargesheet filed against Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami

Maharashtra police has filed a chargesheet against Arnab Goswami in a suicide case in 2018. The Maharashtra police has filed a charge sheet for the Alibag court. In a media report, Arnab Goswami, along with Feroz Sheikh and Nitish Sharada, have been added to the police charge sheet.

Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami filed an urgent appeal to the Bombay High Court on Thursday, demanding that Anwai Nayak’s 2018 plea for suicide be filed in the charge sheet and cease further investigation.

Anil Deshmukh, Maharashtra Home Minister, who had ordered the CID to re-investigate the case, said the petition had not been granted and the investigation carried out by Alibag police in Raigad district last year was closed.

Goswami, one of the accused in the case, was arrested by Alibag police last month. He was granted bail by the Supreme Court. In his plea that his detention was illegal on November 4, he appealed to the High Court to transfer the investigation of the case to the CBI or some other independent agency.
