2021 England tour: Team India can’t do anything for three days in Southampton, Axar Patel says

The Indian cricket team has reached Southampton to play the final of the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Test Championship (WTC) and the five-match Test series against England. WTC’s final match against New Zealand is to be played on the England tour of India from June 18 and a five-match Test series against the hosts from August 4, about a month and a half after that. Team India reached Southampton on June 3 and no players will be able to meet each other for three days. Team India spinner Axar Patel has revealed this.

Axar Patel said that Team India had to undergo three days of strict separation before practicing at the Aegis Bowl ground for the WTC Final, in which players were not allowed to meet each other. The India team had been isolated in Mumbai for 14 days before leaving and are currently in the second short of a short stay. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has posted a video of the Indian team traveling on a chartered plane, in which they have spoken with the players. In this video Akshar said, ‘I slept well. Now we have to be separate. We have been told we cannot meet each other for three days, so we have been apart for several days.

Indian men and women flew to England on a chartered flight. Upon reaching London, the Indian team reached Southampton after a two-hour bus journey. After playing the final of the World Test Championships, India need to play five Test series against England. The women’s side will have to play one Test, three ODIs and many T20 internationals against England.
