69000 Teachers Recruitment: SC candidates get 1133 seats remaining in ST

On the appointment of 69,000 assistant teachers in council primary schools, the unemployed protest demanded Monday that 1133 seats of Scheduled Tribes (STs) be converted into Scheduled Caste (SC). Dozens of SC class candidates who arrived outside the Education Board’s office in the Directorate of Education said reservation rules were being ignored.

According to the Reservation Act, the protesters argued that if the SC or ST vacancies remain vacant in any appointment, they can be filled by SC or ST candidates. Candidates filed a memorandum in the absence of Secretary Pratap Singh Bagel and Deputy Secretary of State Anil Kumar. Candidate Amit Kumar said his picket will continue till the demand is met. The strikers included Pradeep Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Deep Kumar, Vijay, Dilip and Santosh.
