The first Test of the five-Test series between India and England will begin on August 4. England all-rounder Ben Stokes has suffered a major setback after taking an indefinite break from international cricket. Former India cricketer and commentator Akash Chopra has said how the absence of Ben Stokes will affect the series. Ben Stokes announced on Friday that he was taking a break from international cricket. This was confirmed in the ECB statement.
In a new video uploaded by Akash on his YouTube channel, ‘Ben Stokes’ absence will benefit India greatly. He’s only as good as two players. In Tests, he comes in at No. 5 or 6 as a proper batsman and has the ability to change the direction of the match. He is also a wicket taker with the ball and a prolific slip fielder. So their absence is good news for India.
Former India cricketer Rijender Singh Sodhi selected India’s 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup
He said Team India hosts tail batsmen could be out quickly in the absence of Stokes. One of India’s biggest weaknesses nowadays is the inability to expel child batsmen. In many cases, including the home series against England, the tail end of the opponent has been a decisive run. Chopra said that Stokes’ lack of playing will ease the pressure on India and he may be able to get off the tail. England will be a bit weak before the series starts.
