Amazon ties up one lakh shopkeepers will join Great Indian Festival for the first time

To cash in on the festive season, Amazon has announced its biggest sale of the year, the Great Indian Festival. However, the date of this sale is not yet fixed. With this, Amazon India through its various initiatives has added more than one lakh local shops, grocery stores and street shops across the country for package delivery during this festive season.

The company said in a statement that ‘more than 20,000 offline retailers, grocery and local shoppers will participate in the Great Indian Festival for the first time under the local shop program on Amazon’ and will supply everyday items, large appliances and home decor items. The company said that through this format shop owners will be able to enter digital presence and expand their reach.

This will allow customers to shop from local stores in their cities. The program was launched in April this year. So far, more than 20,000 retailers from 400 cities have been connected to the event. These include the cities of Meerut, Ludhiana, Saharanpur, Surat, Indore, Ernakulam and Kanchipuram. More than 40 percent of its vendors are outside the top 10 cities.

Amazon India has also started other programs called ‘Amazon Easy Stores,’ I Have Space and ‘Amazon Pay Smart Store. Amazon India Vice President Manish Tiwari said, “In this festive season, we are focusing on helping our vendors and other MSME partners grow their businesses and overcome the recent challenges.” In the last few months we have seen businesses of all sizes increasingly adopting technology.

Recently competitive e-commerce company Flipkart said that it has added 50,000 grocery stores to strengthen its supply chain and delivery capacity ahead of the upcoming festive season. She had said that with this new step she has been able to deliver to customers in more than 850 cities.
