AUS Open 2021: Djokovic Djokovic wins 300th Grand Slam, enters quarterfinals

World number one player Serbia Novak Djokovic, second seed Romania’s Simona Halep, 23-time Grand Slam winner US Serena Williams and US Open winner Japan’s Naomi Osaka won the first Grand Slam Australian Open tennis tournament on Sunday. The quarter-finals of the World Cup, and third-seeded Austrian Dominic Thiem lost in the fourth round.

Eight-time winner and top seed Djokovic alleviated injury concerns, defeating 14th-seeded Canadian Milos Raonic in two sets of 56 minutes, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-1, 6 in four sets. Reached the final. It was Djokovic’s 300th win in four Grand Slam tournaments. Djokovic became the second player to win 300 at Grand Slam tournaments.

Serena defeated seventh seed Arena Sabalenka of Belarus 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in two hours and nine minutes for her 24th Grand Slam title.
