Barcelona is the first club in Spain to win the WCL title. So far it has dominated seven-time champion Leon. Earlier, Barcelona reached the final in 2019, but then defeated Lyon 4β1. Chelsea, who were playing in the final for the first time, came under pressure from midfielder Melanie Leopol’s suicide goal. Alexia Putelas converted a penalty in the 14th minute to put Barcelona ahead 2β0.
Seven minutes later, Aitana Bonmati got the ball close to Golmukh, who made no mistake in faking it. Carolyn Graham Henson scored the fourth goal on a beautiful pass from Mertons in the 36th minute. Barcelona defeated Manchester City in the quarter-finals and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the semifinals. PSG had previously beaten Lyon.
