BCCI wins legal battle with Deccan Chargers

BCCI has got a big solution in the Bombay High Court dispute. BCCI has raised Rs 4800 crore in a controversy over Deccan Chronicle holding This order was set aside by Justice S Patel’s divisional bench. The July 2020 decision was challenged by the BCCI, which included Rs 4800 crore. The case concerns the termination of a franchise agreement with Deccan Chargers Holding Limited in 2012.

Deccan Chargers is one of the eight original teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL), owned by Deccan Chronicle Holdings Limited. The Deccan Chargers won the 2009 IPL season under the captaincy of Adam Gilchrist. The BCCI terminated the franchise in September 2021. The BCCI has accused the Deccan Chargers of violating the BCCI code. At the same time, Deccan Chronicle Holding Limited attempted to auction off the franchise. The BCCI then canceled DCHL’s contract and placed all players at auction.

The DCHL then approached the Bombay High Court challenging the BCCI’s decision, alleging that the dismissal was arbitrary. The court appointed retired Justice C.K.Locker as arbitrator in 2021. 4800 crore for Deccan Chargers last year The BCCI appealed against this.
