Cheteshwar Pujara’s blunt pain, frustrated by repeated neglect of IPL auction

Cheteshwar Pujara returned to IPL not long after IPL 2021. At auction in February this year, Chennai Superkings bought them for Rs 50 lakh. This was Pooja’s original prize. He has not been selected by any franchise before the 6th in IPL. He played for the Kings XI Punjab in 2014. He has scored 124 runs in 6 matches for Punjab. In 2013
He scored his only fifty against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He has scored 51 in this match.

During a YouTube program called Mind Matters, Pujara admitted that it was really difficult to opt out of the IPL. To some extent, he was saddened by the frequent neglect during the auction. That said, this is tough. Getting out of IPL and not selling in IPL is never easy. It hurts me. But this is something I cannot control. After a while I realized that I would try and focus on things I could control, and I would do well in the direction of smaller forms.

Earlier, the IPL 2020, which was to be held during the April-May period, did not feature in the Pujara tournament. Instead he signed a six-game short-term contract with county team Gloucestershire. Indian fast bowler Javagal Srinath is the second Indian to do so. Pujara was the fourth county team after Derbyshire (2014), Yorkshire (2015 and 2018) and Nottinghamshire (2017). Pujara never played a match for Chennai Super Kings before the IPL 14 was postponed.
