Deepika Kumar wins gold medal in doubles with husband Atanu Das

Indian archer Atanu Das and his wife, star archer Deepika Kumari, made history by winning the gold medal at the Paris Archery World Cup third round on Sunday. They are the first pair to achieve this feat. Deepika won a hat-trick in the individual, women’s doubles and mixed doubles, winning gold medals. Compound archer Abhishek Verma won the gold medal in the men’s individual event on Saturday.

Not only do we inspire each other, we encourage each other and win together. ‘In a repeat individual competition, Deepika defeated Russian Elena Osipova 6-0 and won the gold medal. Deepika won the first set 29-27, the second set went 29-28 to lead 4-0 and in the third set Deepika won 28-27.

In the women’s team, Deepika led India to a 5-1 win over the Mexican team and won the gold medal. Atanu and Deepika Holland won gold in the mixed doubles, beating Jeff van denberg and Gabby Schlosser. Archery Munda, president of the Archery Association of India, congratulated Indian Archers on the stellar performance of the Indian Archers before the Tokyo Olympics. He promised that Indian archers would repeat the show at the Olympics.
