Devolina Bhattacharjee as Gopi multi-starrer Saath Nibhana Saathiya 2

“This is a special treat for the fans of the night. I am very happy to see that they are excited, and I am sure they will like this sequel as much as the original show, ”said Devolina Bhattacharjee when talking about Saath Nibhana Saathiya 2 Followings for the 2010 popular show are set to begin today. In Star Plus

While Bhattacharjee Gopi is reprising the role, Harsh Nagar and Sneha Jain will play a new role in the show. Some actors from the original season, Roopal Patel and Mohammad Najeem, will also appear in Saathiya 2.

In an exclusive interview with IndianExpress.com, Devolina Bhattacharjee spoke about Gopi’s re-drama, new actors and his expectations from the new From Tuvu.

Excerpt of conversation:

What about the new actors who are going to take your legacy forward in Saath Nibhana Saathiya 2?

We did a few scenes together, but until I saw them on screen and I don’t think that’s right. I can say that we and the Modi family had a responsibility in the first instance. We have proved ourselves, and now it is their turn.

You have come together as a substitute in affairs, and after a successful phase, you are now a mentor in the Second Inn. How do you see your journey with the show?

I still believe that I am a newbie. I mean, I still have to learn years later. I don’t think I see myself as a savior yet. However, this is a loving team, and we are working hard and learning from each other during the shooting.

It has been three years since Sat Nibhana Saathiya ended. Is it challenging to be Gopi again?

Surprisingly, it didn’t take me long. Gopi is a part of me, and I immediately replaced him in the shooting. To be honest with you, I have always wanted to be associated with great things. Once Sathya wrapped up, I waited and did Bigg Boss last year, because I thought it was a step forward. It was God’s plan that He send me back as Gopi because I don’t think any other character can match Him.

When you were a Bigg Boss, you wanted the world to know you as Devolina and not Gopi. TV actors have a harder time than film. Don’t you think that limiting yourself by playing the same role again?

Now people know that Gopi and Devolina are different, they enjoy the show more. While I have my own fan following, Gopi is also on his own, and now both appear on the show. Moreover, everyone realizes that Gopi is deaf, already knows that he is not the actor to play the role. So they look at both sides and connect well with it.

Many people are saying that the new story around a housewife is quite recessive. What is your opinion on this?

They have found this new word and are using it everywhere. I understand that times have changed, but there are still many families around us who practice similar things. A show has been created since the original research, and this story and character are all around us. Also, even if you say it is a recession, don’t think it’s important to show it so that people can separate and progress.

Do you think that by calling television a woman’s medium, it can change their lives?

Absolutely. We have a lot of aunts and grandparents who said they loved the show and wanted their daughters to be as strong as Gopi. It always had a positive effect. I also remember a friend of mine who got married in New Zealand. His aunt Gopi kept telling you to be your friend, be like him. And she complains to me, how do I tell her that you are not really like Gopi (laughs).

Lastly, what are your expectations with Saath Nibhana Saathiya 2?

I have high expectations. In my life, I want to win everything I join. I like the feeling of victory. So, after a successful season, I want this show to perform very well.

Starting Monday, October 19, Saath Nibhana Saathiya 2 will air on Star Plus on Monday-Saturday at 9 pm.
