Dhoni is not due to Parthiv Patel’s departure, but a poor performance

In the 2000s, many wicketkeeper batsmen played Mahendra Singh Dhoni in Team India but no one could confirm his status. Dhoni has played the role of wicketkeeper for Team India international cricket for nearly 15 years. Parthiv Patel played for the Indian side in the 2010s but was unable to secure his place in the team. He was dropped from the team in 2004. Parthiv Patel believes he has not lost his place in Team India due to Dhoni but has been able to take advantage of the opportunities given to him.

Parthiv Patel, during a conversation with Kartili and Karisma, said, “I don’t think it is unfortunate. I had the opportunity to play for Team India before Dhoni. I can’t call myself bad luck because I didn’t play much, I played 19 tests before I was dropped, and I can’t say I didn’t get a lot of chances.

Dhoni led India’s team apart from wicketkeeper. While Patel, Dinesh Karthik, Saha and Rishabh Pant were in the national squad for Dhoni’s active days, he was only given the chance to play as a specialist batsman. Patel was the first Indian to win a Test series against Australia. Patel has played 25 Tests, 38 ODIs and 2 T20s for India. He has scored 934 Tests, 736 ODIs and 36 T20s. Dhoni played in the IPL.
