“We need to continue our efforts to address the threats of bioterrorism and infectious diseases,” Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said at the ASEAN (ASEAN) Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM-plus) on Thursday. On the 10th anniversary of the meeting, the defense minister said, “We face challenges as a platform for rule-based mandates, threats to maritime security, cyber-related crimes and terrorism, to name a few.”
ADMM-plus ASEAN and its eight dialog partners – Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Russia and the United States (collectively known as Plus Countries), is a security and security platform. Works in the region to strengthen cooperation and peace, stability and development.
In his speech, Rajnath Singh said that over the past decade, collective achievement has been significant in enhancing multilateral cooperation through strategic dialogue and practical cooperation.
“The ADMM has been working for the last decade to provide a basis for peace, stability and rule-based action in the region. To avoid actions that would further complicate the situation and restrict the conduct of the activities, there is a long way to go for peace.
Rajanath Singh attended the inauguration of the Defense and Security 2019 Exhibition in Bangkok in 2019. ADMM-Plus has been meeting annually since 2017 to allow for enhanced dialogue and cooperation between ASEAN and PLUS countries amid an increasingly challenging regional security environment.
The meeting focused on promoting mutual trust and confidence among defense agencies through greater dialogue and transparency, and enhancing regional peace and stability through defense and security cooperation.
