Electric cars and bikes are going to be cheaper, the government is bringing this new rule

The government is constantly trying to promote the use of electric vehicles in the country. The government has now taken another big step in facilitating people’s access to electric vehicles. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoARTH) has issued a proposal to exempt battery-powered vehicles (BOVs) from payment. Issue or renewal of Registration Certificate (RC) and a new registration mark has been assigned.

Simply put, a registration certificate or a fee paid for the renewal of new electric vehicles can be waived. As of now, no details have been provided in this draft notification other than the addition of a line to Rule 81 of the 1989 Central Motor Vehicle Regulations. There is still much to be revealed in this regard.

The notification “shall exempt battery operated vehicles from renewing a registration certificate or paying a fee for a new registration mark assignment as defined in Rule 2 (u).” In fact, Rule 2 (U) is a battery operated vehicle that is powered by an electric motor.

The Ministry believes that this will promote the use of electric vehicles in the country. Over the last few years, the demand for electric vehicles has increased across the country. People are especially interested in electric vehicles, especially the two-wheeler segment. Passenger vehicle segment Tata Nexon EV is the best-selling electric car in the country and Maruti Suzuki will soon launch its new electric car.
