ENG vs. PAK: England beat Pakistan by 9 wickets in an ODI series, David Malan scored fifty

The first match of the three-match ODI series was played in Cardiff between England and Pakistan. In the first ODI, England defeated Pakistan by 9 wickets to take a 1-0 lead. With the unbeaten half-century of David Malan and debutant Jacques Crowley, England set a target of 141 in 21.5 overs. England dismissed the visitors for 141 in 35.2 overs. Malan was unbeaten on 68 and Crowley unbeaten on 58. There was an unbroken partnership of 120 runs for the second wicket between the two.

Malan hit eight fours in 69 balls, while Crowley scored an unbeaten 58 off 50 balls. England lost by one wicket as Shahin Shah Afridi dismissed Phil Salt (07). First-team captain Ben Stokes was in the process of recovering from an injury but despite this he was playing in the game and he only threw one over. England are playing with another team as the main players are susceptible to the corona virus. The five players made their debut for England in ODIs.

Pakistan lost two wickets in the first over. Fakhar Zaman scored 47 while Shadab Khan scored 30. Sohaib Maqsood scored 19 and Mohammad Rizwan 13 and Shahin Shah Afridi 12. Shakib Mahmood of England took four wickets for 42 while Lewis Gregory and Matt Parkinson took two wickets each. Brayden Kors, Jacques Crowley, Lewis Gregory, Phil Salt and John Simpson made one-day internationals for England. The second match is scheduled for July 10 at Lord’s.
