Former Saurashtra fast bowler and India Cricket Control Board (BCCI) referee Rajendrasimha Jadeja has died of Kovid-19 infection. The Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) gave this information on Sunday. Jadeja is 66 years old. In a statement, the SCA said: “Everyone at SCA is saddened by the untimely demise of Rajendra Sinha Jadeja, one of the greatest cricketers in the country. He died early this morning in the war against Kovid-19.

Jadeja was a good all-rounder with a right-arm fast bowler. He took 134 and 14 wickets in 50 first class and 11 List A matches respectively. In both of these formats he scored 1,536 and 104 respectively. Jadeja was the BCCI’s official referee in 53 first class, 18 List A and 34 T20 matches. He was selector, coach and manager of the Saurashtra Cricket Association.

His dedication and contribution to cricket will always be remembered. Mourning the death of SCA president Jaydev Shah, he said: ‘This is a big loss for world cricket. Rajendra sir is one of the most famous people I have ever met. I was fortunate that I played many matches under his head coach, manager and guide.
