Google has brought a new button. This new button is in Gmail. With the help of this new ‘Save to Photos’ button, Gmail users will be able to save attachments in their mail directly to Google Photos. Currently, this new feature only works on photos sent in JPEG format. There is no information on when this new feature will support photos of other formats.

This new feature in Gmail is very useful. After Google removed the sync between Google Photos and Google Drive in 2019. Gmail users can previously save any attachments directly to their Google Drive. Google has introduced a new feature through its workspace blog. A new button with ‘Save to Photos’ has been added beside the Add to Drive button.

Images other than the JPEG format are not yet supported
This new feature in Gmail eliminates the need to download JPEG images and save them to Google Photos manually. However, images and videos in other formats need to be manually uploaded to Google Photos. Google will soon start supporting other formats. The blog says, ‘This feature is turned on by default. To upload any JPEG photo to Google Photos, you need to select the Save Photos button next to the Add to Drive. In addition, Google has provided detailed information on its support page on how to upload files and folders to Google Drive.

All users can take up to 15 days to reach the feature.
The Save Photos feature has been brought out using quick release and scheduled release domains. Users with faster release domains may start receiving updates from May 26th. At the same time, users with scheduled release domains begin receiving updates after a week. Google says it can take up to 15 days for all users to reach this feature.
