Google News Showcase, launched in India

Technology giant Google launched its News Showcase product in India on Tuesday. Google brought out a news show with 30 publishers. According to Google, the need to access credible news is critical. The company is then announcing big investments to support India’s large and diverse news industry. The investments help people access quality journalism, contribute to the sustainability of news organizations, and expand the company’s programs under the Google News Initiative.

Support for news organizations and readers
Today’s announcement comes at a challenging time, especially in India. Amid the Kovid-19 crisis, Indians are looking for official news and information. To support news organizations and readers, the company says we are introducing our new online experience and licensing program, the Google News Showcase. The Google News Showcase is launching today with over 30 news publishers including national, regional and local news organizations. These companies include HD Digital Streams Limited, The Hindu Group, Indian Express Group, ABP Live, Telegraph India, INS and ANI.

Google News will be joining the show and Indian languages
More than 700 newsletters have signed news show deals in more than a dozen countries, including Germany, Brazil, Canada, France, Japan, the UK, Australia, Italy and Argentina. Of these, more than 90 percent represent local or community news. English and Hindi content from Indian publishing partners appear in Google News and the Dedicated News Showcase in Discover. Google will be releasing it in more Indian languages this year and will be adding more and more languages in the coming time.

Google said the news show is part of our commitment to the Indian news ecosystem. The company is expanding its efforts related to the Google News Initiative in India.
