Honda is bringing the mid-size SUV, while the Creta and Celtoes will compete

Honda is known for its sedans in India. Honda Amaze and Honda City are a successful product in India. So far, the company has been working on a Honda Amaze-based compact SUV. However, Honda has now abandoned the project and has started work on a new midsize SUV for the Indian market. The new SUV is based on the Honda City platform.

According to reports, its length is 4.3 meters. That means Honda will be competing with its new SUV for vehicles like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Celtos and Skoda Cushaw. This mid-range SUV can be launched in the second half of 2023. In fact, the compact SUV the company was working on was to be launched next year. Now that the plans have been discontinued, the company will have to restart the entire process for the new SUV.

There is a choice of 5 and 7 seats
If reports are to be believed, this SUV can come in 2-raw and 3-raw options. That is, it will come in 5-seat and 7-seat variants. The SUV is codenamed 31 XA. This is similar to the recently introduced Honda N7X Concept SUV in Indonesia. The Honda Elevate may be the name for the 7-seater version of the vehicle. The company has recently registered an Elevate Trademark in India.

The Honda City and this SUV are going to have many things in common. It can be taken from the Honda City platform, 1.5 liter petrol and diesel engine and transmission. The electronic architecture used by the SUV is shipped from the old BR-V. In this way, the company costs are cut and the SUV can be found competitive. The company plans to sell 40,000 units of the SUV annually.
