The victim’s brother has lodged an FIR in the Hathras incident. As the court adjourned the next hearing of the case, it had asked the CBI to submit a status report of the investigation that day.

On the other hand, the DM and the then SP have reiterated their earlier statement that the victim’s last rites are being taken into consideration in the immediate context. He dismissed the charge of using kerosene at a funeral. He said the family of the victims were protected by the Supreme Court order.
