Shubman Gill’s performance as an opener in this series is very good and he has impressed everyone with his game. Gill has scored 161 runs at an average of 53.67 in two matches of the series. However, in the first innings of Brisbane they certainly could not do anything special. When Shubman Gill landed at the Gabba ground with Rohit Sharma, everyone’s eyes were on his bat. Earlier, India were bowled out for 369 in the first innings thanks to a stunning bowling by Natarajan and Washington Sundar. However, Shardul Thakur broke the century partnership between Cameron Green and Tim Paine by dismissing Penn. Subsequently Sunder bowled Green and brought much comfort to Team India. Nathan Leon dismissed Josh Hazlwood as the last wicket-taker, while Washington Sunder threw for a pavilion while Nathan Lyon was aggressively batting in his 100th match.
