Although Pant was unable to increase his innings after completing a century, he did his job well. Pant hit 13 fours and two sixes in his innings. He was cautious at the start and meanwhile his six sixes are in line with his batting style. Pant had earlier scored 50 off 82 balls but after that he played only 33 balls. Prior to the partnership between Pant and Sundar, India were struggling to reach England’s first innings score of 205, but they have now reached a strong position with an 89-run lead on the pitch, backed by the Motera spinners.
