IND vs ENG: Rain saved the British humiliation, ending the first Test match between India and England in a draw

The first match of the five-match Test series between India and England ended in a draw. On the last day of the Test, Team India needed 157 runs to win, but due to continuous rain, a single ball game was not possible on the fifth day. After the tea break, the umpires reviewed the grounds and announced that the match had been canceled. England scored 209 for India’s win. Thanks to captain Joe Root’s century, the English team scored 303 in the second innings. Jaspreet Bumrah took 9 wickets in the best bowling for Team India.

On the fifth day, Rain proved to be a villain for India and did not take a stand for two consecutive terms. After the fourth day, India seemed to be in a strong position and the team needed 157 runs to win. In the first Test of the series, England won the toss and decided to bat, but the English batsmen could not play against the Indian fast bowlers and the entire team was out for 183. Jaspreet Bumrah 4 and Mohammad Shami took three wickets in the first innings for India. In response to England’s 183, Team India scored 278 in the first innings and 95 runs in the first innings. KL Rahul scored 84 while Ravindra Jadeja scored 56 for India. In English bowling, Ollie Robinson took 5 wickets in the first innings while James Anderson walked four Indian batsmen.

In the second innings, England captain Joe Root batted and scored a century of 109 runs, which helped England score 303 in the second innings. In bowling, Jaspreet Bumrah appeared in Team India’s best form and he took 9 wickets in the first Test, but the performance of the other fast bowlers in India was unmatched. The second Test match between India and England will be played at Lord’s from August 12.
