England have added all-rounder Moeen Ali to the second Test of the five-Test series against India. The second Test between the two teams will be played at Lord’s from Thursday. The 34-year-old Moeen has played just one Test for England over the past two years. He played his last Test match against India in Chennai six months ago, but will now join the team at Lord’s. The first match of the series between the two teams was a draw due to rain. Indian fast bowlers performed brilliantly in this Test and badly destroyed England’s top order.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has decided to bring back Moeen Ali due to the absence of all-rounder Ben Stokes and Chris Vox. “Worcester Shire spin all-rounder Moeen Ali has been added to the England men’s Test team,” the board said. He will join the Test squad today and will be training with the England team in the afternoon.
Moeen Ali has been recalled by England before the second Test against India, which begins at Lord’s on Thursday.

Since playing his last Test in February, Moeen has only played white ball cricket. He took eight wickets in his last Test and dismissed Indian captain Virat Kohli twice. Moeen currently plays for The Hundred, where he was part of the Birmingham Phoenix team. It is believed that if Moeen joins the squad, England’s batting will be strengthened. Could be a replacement for the team in the spin department. He has played in the last three Tests as a frontline spinner and in such a situation, it is believed he will play in the Playing XI.
