IND vs. SL: India easily won the first T20 against Sri Lanka, skipper Shikhar Dhawan wins

Suryakumar Yadav’s fifty and skipper Shikhar Dhawan’s 46 helped India win the first T20 match against Sri Lanka by 38 runs. India batted first and scored 164 for five in 20 overs. Sri Lanka were all out for 126 in 18.3 overs thanks to a strong display of bowlers led by Bhubaneswar Kumar. With this win, India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. After the match, India captain Shikhar Dhawan praised Suryakumar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

He said, ‘Suryakumar is a good player and we see him batting. He took the pressure off me in this match and the way he takes the innings in mind and plays the shots when the time comes is really commendable. In this game, we knew that our spin bowlers would do well for us, which they did. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also bowled well and in this match our whole team stood together till the end. Varun Chakraborty, who is playing his first match, also performed well in this match.

In this match Charith Asalanka scored 44 off 26 balls with three fours and three sixes while opener Avishka Fernando scored 26 runs off 23 balls with three fours. India bowled spectacularly in death overs, taking six wickets for 15 runs. Bhuvneshwar took four wickets for 22 runs while Deepak Chahar took two for 24. Varun Chakraborty, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya and Yuzvendra Chahal took one wicket each.
