In view of the ‘Bharat Bandha’ carried out by the farmers, the Delhi Police has started patrolling the markets and other public places. Apart from borders, police have been deployed in markets like Karol Bagh, Chaudhi Bazaar, Chandni Chowk and Sarojini Nagar on Tuesday morning. The police are ensuring adequate presence at railway stations and interstate bus terminals in view of the Bharat Bandh.
Farmer groups said on Monday that they have appealed to their supporters to shut down India from 11 am to 3 pm without inconvenience to the general public. However, those attending ambulances and other emergency services and weddings will be allowed to come during the strike, he said.

Responding to this, the Delhi police on Monday issued stringent legal action against those who try to obstruct traffic or traffic or force the closure of shops during bandh. About 4,000 traffic policemen and thousands of people will be deployed for security on the border and city roads without any unpleasant incidents happening, he said.
