Skipper Shreyas Iyer (88 not out), opener Prithvi Shaw (66) and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant (38) stitched Delhi Capitals to give Kolkata Knight Riders big scores on the small ground of Sharjah and sixes in a rainy match on Saturday. Won by run, winning third in four matches in IPL-13 and secured number one position in point table. Delhi scored a mammoth 228 for three in 20 overs and held Kolkata’s challenge to 210 for eight. This was Delhi’s third win in four matches, while Kolkata suffered a second defeat in four matches. In this thrilling match, Delhi Capitals have demolished a big record of Rajasthan Royals.

Kings XI Punjab also scored a strong score of 223 runs in this match. Sharjah’s small ground has scored above 200 in the sixth consecutive innings and Delhi’s huge score proved to be the final decision. Captain Iyer played a key role in leading the team to this score. He smashed 88 not out off 38 balls with seven fours and six sixes. Prithvi hit four fours and four sixes in his 66 off 41 balls. Wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant hit five fours and a six in 38 runs off 17 balls, washing his hands in the flowing Ganga. Opener Shikhar Dhawan hit two fours and two sixes in 16 runs off 16 balls. Shimron Hetmyer scored seven not out with the help of a six off five balls.

Delhi’s innings had 18 fours and 14 sixes. Delhi added 77 runs in the last five overs, leaving Delhi behind the Rajasthan Royals score of 226 on this ground to become the highest score of this IPL. Prithvi and Shikhar shared a 56-run partnership for the first wicket while Prithvi along with his captain Iyer added 73 runs for the second wicket. Iyer and Pant shared a 72-run partnership for the third wicket. On the basis of these three major partnerships, Delhi scored the highest in the tournament.
This is the second highest score in Delhi’s IPL history. Delhi had scored 231 runs in the 2011 IPL against Kings XI Punjab. For Kolkata, player Pat Cummins, worth Rs 15.5 crore, took 49 runs in four overs. Varun Chakraborty took one wicket for 49, Andre Russell two wickets for 29 and Kamlesh Nagerkoti took one wicket for 35 runs.
