In the 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020), Sanju Samson made a great start for Rajasthan Royals. In the first two matches, he played a brilliant innings of 75 and 85 runs and also played a key role in the team’s victory, but Samson has been out cheaply since then. Talking about the last three matches, he was dismissed 8, 4 and without opening an account. Former Mumbai cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has tweeted a tweet about Samson being dismissed for three balls against Mumbai Indians.
Point Table: Mumbai again on top, CSK benefited from Rajasthan defeat
No matter what the format, I make it a point to look at a player’s FC record to get a general idea about the player. Something about Samson that’s always bothered me..his FC average is 37. In comparison, Mayank is 57 & Gill in his 21 matches a staggering 73.

Manjrekar wrote on Twitter, ‘It doesn’t matter what format, one should look at his first class cricket records to form a general opinion about any player. There is one thing about Samson, which has always bothered me. His first class average is 37, Mayank Agarwal has 57 compared to this and Shubman Gill has 73 after 21 matches. Manjrekar’s tweet for Samson was not liked by fans, while former Australian cricketer and current commentator Damian Martin described it as the perfect point.

Although a fair point but sometimes faith of a selector/captain helps for eg @ marnus3cricket FC average was 33 before he was identified and fast tracked in to Aussie Test side. Fast track 6 months, and he was being called as potential successor to @stevesmith49 1/2
