Former India opener Virender Sehwag has suggested Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli batting in third place instead of opening. Sehwag said RCB should allow young batsman Mohammad Azharuddin and opener Devadatta Padikkal. Sehwag was quite upset about Rajat Patidar’s performance. In their last match, Bangalore lost to Kings XI Punjab by 34 runs.

Sehwag, while interacting with Cricbuzz, said: ‘I think Virat Kohli should return to his old position and allow Mohammed Azharuddin to open the role. He appears to be a better choice than Rajat Patidar. Kohli is in third position, followed by Maxwell and AB de Villiers. This means you have three world-class players in the middle order. If Devadut is unable to do his job at Padikkal and Azharuddin Top, then the strength of the trio will put the front team in trouble.

Rajat Patidar is battling badly for runs in the match against the Punjab Kings. He has only scored 71 runs in four matches this season, with his highest score being 31 runs. He faced 30 deliveries for 31 against Punjab. Kohli also got under pressure due to Rajat’s slow innings and bowled Harpreet Brar. Mohammad Azharuddin made his name in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy by scoring a century in 37 balls.
