An encounter between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir took place in the Bilalabad area of Tral last night. Earlier, three terrorists were killed in a June 21 encounter with security forces in Srinagar, Jammu, and Kashmir. A police officer said that on the basis of intelligence of the presence of militants in the Junior area of the city, security forces surrounded the area on Sunday morning and launched a search operation.
So far in 2020, security forces have killed 92 terrorists in 36 operations. While more than 126 helpers have been arrested. More than 150 militants were killed in 2019 and more than 250 in 2018. Of the 92 terrorists killed, only 35 are from Hizbul. Several commanders, including the commander-in-chief of the organization, Riyaz Naiku, have also been killed.
After Eid, the security forces have stepped up their operations against the terrorists and have monitored the top leadership of the terrorist groups. Commander Adil Ahmed Wani of Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir and Shaheen Ahmad Tap of Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed on 25 May in Kulgam. On May 30, the Hizbul Mujahideen commander Parvez Ahmed and Jaish-e-Mohammad top commander Shakir Ahmed were gunned down by the security forces in the Vanpora area of Kulgam.
