Javadekar meeting with State Environment Ministers on Pollution

New Delhi: Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar has said that the new technology developed by the Pusa Agricultural Research Institute will be used this year to curb the dense air pollution that occurs annually in Delhi as well as neighboring states of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan due to burning of crop waste. He revealed that due to this new technology, crop waste decomposes in the field and mixes with the soil. He held a video conference with environment ministers from five states on Thursday in the wake of the approaching time for crop waste incineration. He later told the media that despite the decline in crop waste burning over the past three years, more steps needed to be taken to address the problem.
