The country’s largest telecom company Reliance Jio added 79 lakh new mobile users in March. According to a report by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea could not add as many users in March. Bharti Airtel added 40.5 lakh subscribers in March, while Vodafone Idea’s subscriber base increased by 10.8 lakh.
Jio’s total customer base crossed Rs 42 crore
Due to 79 lakh new subscribers, Reliance Jio’s total mobile phone subscriber base has grown to 4229 million. Similarly, Airtel’s subscriber base increased to 35.23 million in March 2021 and Vodafone Idea’s subscriber base increased from 10.8 lakh to 28.37 million. Let us tell you that even in February, Mukesh Ambani’s company Jio was at the forefront of adding over 42 lakh customers.

According to TRAI statistics, the total number of telephone subscribers in the country increased by 1.12 percent on a monthly basis, reaching 1201 million in March 2021. “In March 2021, the number of urban and rural telephone subscribers increased by 0.92% and 1.37%, respectively, on a monthly basis,” TRAI said in a statement. Wireless or mobile phone subscribers rose to 118 million in March, up 1.13% on a monthly basis.

The market share of private players in the mobile phones sector was wireless at 89.6 per cent by March 31, 2021, while BSNL and MTNL had a share of 10.32 per cent. According to regulators, the number of broadband subscribers in the country jumped to 778 million in March, according to reports from 421 operators.
