Judicial abuse petition filed by Goa in Supreme Court against Karnataka

Panaji: The Goa government has filed a judicial contempt petition in the Supreme Court alleging that Karnataka is diverting water.

Goa CM Pramod Sawant, who tweeted about this, today filed a judicial contempt petition in the Supreme Court on the issue of illegal water diversion. We will fight for our rights.

Opposition parties sparked controversy over Goa CM over White House issue, demanding a White Paper. Goa CM had held a news conference on Monday evening in protest against the previous Congress government.

He alleged that the previous Congress government had allowed the diversion of the Mahadai River. He said that the Supreme Court would apply for evidence.

During the Karnataka and Goa polls, the Congress and BJP parties were concerned about the Mahadi River. At present there are two chief ministers of the BJP. At the center is the BJP-led NDA government. It is therefore interesting how the BJP will settle the issue.

The central government has issued a notification in the I-judgment of the Mahdi River water sharing dispute. The Central Government has said that the Central Environment and Forests Department will start work on drinking water projects and hydropower projects in the river valley. After a lengthy trial, the Mahdi judiciary announced its decision on August 14, 2018. 13.5 TMC of water has been allocated from the Mahadai River to Karnataka. 4 TMC has agreed to provide drinking water to Malaprabha from Mahadai River. Judicial Bandura project, which gave 12 TMC from the Mahdi River to Karnataka, allocated a total of 2.18 TMC, 1.72 TMC for the Kalasa Project, 8.02 TMC for Hydro Power Project and 1.5 TMC for use in the Mahadai River Valley.
