Kailash Vijayawargia – CAA issue raised before West Bengal elections – Mamata Banerjee alleges

“The revised Citizenship Act (CAA) will come into effect from January next year,” senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayawargiya said on Saturday. He alleged that the Trinamool Congress government had no sympathy for refugees.

Speaking to reporters in the North 24 Parganas district, Vijayawargiya said, “We hope that the process of granting citizenship to refugees under the CAA will start from January next year.” The Central Government passed the Bill with sincere intent. CAA provides Indian citizenship to Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Christian, Jain and Parsi refugees who arrived in India before December 31, 2014 from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
