New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson has climbed to the second spot with his rival Virat Kohli, who has been ranked as the International Cricket Council (ICC) newcomer to the Test batsmen released on Monday. On the other hand, West Indies captain Jason Holder, who performed poorly in an innings and 134 runs in the first Test against New Zealand, topped England star Ben Stokes in the ICC Test all-rounder list.
Australian star batsman Steve Smith tops the list of Test batsmen with 911 points. Williamson hit a double century during his victory over the West Indies at Hamilton. According to the ICC, India’s Cheteshwar Pujara is ranked seventh in the list of batsmen, ahead of Stokes (eighth), while England captain Joe Root is ninth. New Zealand opener Tom Latham enters the top 10 and is 10th. Team India Test deputy Ajinkya Rahane is ranked 11th while Mayank Agarwal is 12th. They each lost one seat.
Bad news for Team India, Ravindra Jadeja may be out of the first Test match against Australia
Holder, who failed to take a single wicket despite bowling 31 overs in the New Zealand innings, failed to bat and played 25 and 08 innings, which led to his loss in the rankings. Stokes now tops the list of all-rounders with 446 points, while Holder is second with 434 points. India’s Ravindra Jadeja is third with 397 points.
His teammate Ravichandran Ashwin has fallen one place to sixth. He has 287 points. India’s Jaspreet Bumrah retains ninth place in the bowlers list while Ashwin rose from one spot to 11th. Mohammed Shami (13th overall), Ishant Sharma (17th) and Jadeja (18th place) are also in the top 20. India will play a four-Test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia starting in Adelaide from December 17.
