ODI series between England and South Africa has been canceled after the Kovid-19 case was discovered at a luxury hotel in Cape Town. Both teams stayed at the hotel. Some members of both teams have been infected. Two hotel staff are also suffering from the disease. The decision to cancel the series was made by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket South Africa (CSA). Both boards stated that the decision was taken to ensure the mental and physical health of the players of both teams. The first match of the series was supposed to be played on Friday but the morning of the match was positive for South African Kovid-19, who was postponed until Sunday.

The first ODI was canceled on Sunday as it was learned that two members of the hotel staff were also infected with Kovid-19. Following this, England made new tests. The two members of the England squad have also been positive for Kovid-19, but the ECB says tests should be reviewed by an independent medical team before deciding on the rest of the tour. Both the ECB and Cricket South Africa were expected to host the remaining two ODIs but the tour ended with the announcement on Monday.

ECB CEO Tom Harrison said we have always said that the welfare of our players and team management is paramount. We have been concerned about the latest events and decided to postpone the rest of the series with the interest of the players after consulting with Cricket South Africa.
The ECB did not provide any information on the status of the two members of its team that were seen as positive for Kovid-19 over the weekend. This is an embarrassing incident for South African cricket who failed to secure the Cape Town Hotel Bio. During a tour that began in mid-November, three South African players were found to be positive and two of them are believed to have entered the biofilm environment. A series of three T20 matches were played between the two teams, with England winning 3–0.
