Vehicle Ownership Transfer New Rule: The Ministry of Road Transport has changed the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, which now allows vehicle owners to nominate and then renew their successor during registration. Due to the implementation of this rule, after the death of the original owner of the vehicle, there is no difficulty in owning the vehicle. Implementation of this rule will not only help the vehicle owner but also make it easier for the vehicle owner to succeed after the death of the vehicle owner. The Ministry has issued a circular in this regard.

According to the notification, if the owner of the motor vehicle dies, the person designated by the vehicle owner in the RC may use the vehicle for a period of three months from the death of the vehicle owner to the RTO within thirty days of the death of the vehicle owner and intended to use the vehicle. It states that the nominee who has acquired the vehicle has to file the transfer of ownership of the vehicle to the RTO by Form 31 within three months of the death of the vehicle owner.
