In view of the situation arising out of the global epidemic, the scheme of giving ‘free ration’ to the poor in West Bengal has been pushed forward. Now they will continue to get the benefit of this by June 2021. State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made this announcement on Tuesday (June 30). Along with this, he has demanded from the Union Home Ministry that the Metro service in the state should be allowed to start so that people connected with essential services can get the benefit of it.
West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamta Banerjee announced the grant of free ration to the beneficiaries by June 2021, saying that the central government should give free ration to the entire population of the country.
Mamta added, “Today Chief Secretary Rajiv Sinha has written a letter to Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla. It has demanded that as international air services are banned till July 15, similarly hotspots come to Kolkata from places Domestic flights to the city should also be banned and the metro should be started for people connected with essential benefits. “
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced extending the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana till November, giving five kilograms to each member of poor families every month. Wheat or rice and one kg of a gram will be given free. He said, “This expansion of the scheme will cost more than 90 thousand crore rupees. If you add the expenses of the last three months to it, then it becomes almost one and a half lakh crore rupees. ”
