MCD by-election: Voting for five wards of Delhi Municipal Corporation will be held on March 28

The by-elections for the five municipal wards of Delhi will be voted on Sunday, February 28. The by-election campaign ended on Friday. The main rivals, the Aam Aadmi Party, the AAP, the BJP and the Congress have won the by-election.

According to election officials, municipal by-elections will be held in five wards from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm. Election results will be announced on March 3, according to election officials.

By-elections to the North Delhi Municipal Corporation’s Chauhan Bangar Ward, Rohini C and Shalimar Bagh Ward and the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) Kalyanpuri and Trilokpuri Wards. These by-elections are looking to the 272 wards of the three metropolitan semifinals ahead of the civic election in early 2022.

AAP wins this election. AAP convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had said at a road show in Seelampur that his party could challenge the BJP.

BJP leaders including BJP national secretary Bhupendra Yadav, BJP Delhi unit president Adesh Gupta, MPs Manoj Tiwari and Gautam Gambhir attended the road show on Friday.

During the election campaign, the AAP and the BJP have attacked each other on various issues, including corruption. AAP senior leader Raghav Chadha on Friday accused BJP of ruling the three metropolitan areas and turning the city into garbage.

At a road show in Trilokpuri, senior BJP leader Bhupendra Yadav said the Kejriwal government was acting on advertisements and false promises. Defeat of ‘AAP’ candidates in by-election is certain. Northeastern Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari, who was with him, alleged that all three wards won by AAP councilors at the EDMC were in a trash heap. At a march in Kalyanpuri, Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta said the party would win in all five wards.

Congress leaders appealed to Delhi to vote for party candidates in the by-election on Sunday. Shakti Singh Gohil, who is in charge of the Congress Delhi unit, said the Congress candidates were getting overwhelming support at public meetings, road shows and hiking, giving a clear indication of what wind was blowing. He accused Delhi of betrayal by the BJP and the AAP.
