Monty Panesar does not play in Kashmir Premier League

Former England spinner Monty Panesar has decided not to play in the league amid growing controversy over the Kashmir Premier League. Panesar said he does not want to be caught up in the tensions between India and Pakistan over the Kashmir issue and that is why he is withdrawing his name. Significantly, former South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs has recently accused the BCCI of preventing the Indian Board from playing in the league. There is a lot of clash between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the BCCI regarding this league.

Monty Panesar wrote on his Twitter, “Given the political tensions between India and Pakistan over Kashmir, I have decided not to participate in the Kashmir Premier League (KPL). I don’t want to get caught in the middle of it. I don’t feel comfortable in the middle of it. “Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) answered the PCB’s statement,” The PCB is in chaos. The decision not to allow Pakistani-based players to participate in the IPL is not considered an interference in the internal affairs of the ICC members. India is totally the internal subject of BCCI. He added, “The authenticity of the statement given by a former player involved in the match-fixing investigation cannot be confirmed or denied. In fact, Indian cricket is one of the most sought-after cricketing opportunities in the world. The PCB should not be jealous of it.

Earlier, Gibbs had alleged that BCCI secretary Jay Shah had threatened to leave India for any form of cricket activity if he played in the Kashmir Premier League. On his Twitter, he said, “The BCCI is doing things that I do not need to balance my political agenda with Pakistan and prevent me from playing in the Kashmir Premier League. Also threatening me and saying that they will not allow me to enter India for any cricket related work, this attitude is quite wrong.
