Sanju Samson has been appointed captain of the Rajasthan Royals in IPL cricket.

The IPL management committee has decided that the 8 teams in the IPL should submit the list of players they want to retain by January 21. Following this, Rajasthan Royals captain Steve Smith was released from the team after a long debate.

Following this, Sanju Samson has been appointed as the new captain.

Recently IPL team managements have shown interest in appointing young players as captains. The best examples are Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma and Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer.

In a similar vein, young action player Sanju Samson has been appointed captain.

Although Sanju Samson played 14 matches last season and scored only 375 runs, his batting strike rate is 158. This is his highest strike rate in the IPL seasons he has played so far.
