Nasir Hussain said- ‘Dhoni is gone, now Indian cricket will know his importance’

Former India captain and star wicketkeeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni had been in discussions for a long time whether he should return to international cricket or not. On the evening of 15 August, Dhoni said goodbye to international cricket and put an end to all these discussions. Dhoni had not played any international match since the semifinal match of the 2019 World Cup. Former England captain Nasir Hussain said about Dhoni’s retirement that now Indian cricket will know his importance.

Hussain praised Dhoni’s calm nature on the field, not only that he has named Dhoni as the all-time best Indian captain in limited overs cricket. Apart from this, Hussain also praised Dhoni’s wicketkeeping. Dhoni also holds the world record for most stumping in ODIs. During the commentary in the second Test of the three-match series between England and Pakistan, Hussain said, ‘He was the world’s fastest wicketkeeper, the world’s best finisher and the better limited-overs captain for me, whether he was for Chennai Be it captaincy or for India. He was calm even under pressure. He further said, ‘I think Indian cricket will now realize how good Dhoni has been, while he is gone. Enjoy your retirement Dhoni.

Dhoni has not played any international match since the World Cup semi-final match in July 2019. In the semi-final match, he was Fifty-studded, but could not win Team India against New Zealand. Since then Dhoni was on a break from cricket. There were all kinds of discussions about his retirement, although Dhoni remained silent on this. Dhoni played 90 Tests, 350 ODIs and 98 T20 Internationals for India. Dhoni is considered to be one of the most successful captains of Team India. In December 2014, he retired from Test cricket.
