Netflix has released the first trailer for “The White Tiger” starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, based on the novel of the same name.
Written by Arvind Adiga, ‘The White Tiger’ explores the class struggle in India and is told from the perspective of Balaram, a wealthy landowner and a lower class citizen who drives his wife. As it progresses, the characters’ lives change, giving a shocking turn of events. It also explores the issues of poverty, corruption and class in India.
The film also features Rajkummar Rao and Adarsh Gaurav.
Prior to this, Priyanka shared a post on the still of the film and wrote, “It’s a family story and the plight of a man – one of the most talented newcomers I’ve ever worked with, played by Adarsh Gaurav. Balaram’s rise from poor villagers to successful entrepreneurs in the modern village shows how man’s animal instincts can be saved and driven by hunger and lack of opportunity. ”
The film is directed by Ramin Bahrani and will be released on Netflix in January 2021.
