On National Pollution Control Day, Satyendra Jain appealed to Delhi to reduce pollution

Health Minister Satyender Jain has pledged to make Delhi pollution-free on Wednesday as part of National Pollution Control Day. He appealed to the Delhi people to take a pledge not only to reduce air pollution but also to reduce water, land and noise pollution.

Why National Pollution Control Day is Celebrated

In fact, ‘National Pollution Control Day’ is celebrated in memory of those killed in the 1984 Bhopal gas disaster. On the night of December 2 and 3, 1984, a gas tragedy struck at the Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) plant in Madhya Pradesh’s capital. About 4,000 people have lost their lives.
