Vehicle fuel prices are at an all-time high
Auto fuel prices have been raised for the second consecutive day. The fuel price hike this week has been hiked by Rs 4 per liter. Due to local sales tax or value added tax (VAT), vehicle fuel prices vary in different states. Currently, automotive fuel prices in the country are at an all-time high. Earlier this week, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that Saudi Arabia’s cut of crude oil production has led to an increase in automotive fuel prices. But, he said nothing about cutting taxes on automotive fuel.
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) have resumed daily revision in vehicle prices from January 6. There was no change in vehicle fuel prices for about a month before that. Since then, petrol has been priced at Rs 1.99 per liter and diesel at Rs 2.01 per liter.
Petrol and diesel rates will thus be increased
Once excise duty, dealer commission and other items are added to the price of petrol and diesel, its price will double. If the central government excludes excise duty and state governments’ VAT, diesel and petrol rates may be around Rs 27 per liter, but neither the central nor the state government can remove the tax at any cost. Because the bulk of the revenue comes from here. This money leads to growth.
Prices are set every morning
In fact, petrol and diesel prices fluctuate daily depending on the foreign exchange rates and the crude prices in the international market. Oil market companies set petrol and diesel prices every day after checking prices. Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum revise petrol and diesel rates at 6am every morning.
