Lockdown Returns: WHO Warning, Dangerous Situation Still to Come

The Government of India has released guidelines for Corona Unlock-2 today. Guidelines issued by the government have extended the ban on schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutes, international flights, metro rail, cinema, gym, pool, religious ceremonies till 31 July. According to the guideline, curfew will remain throughout the country from 10 am to 5 am. Essential services will be exempt. The government has allowed only necessary works in the Containment Zone in Unlock-2. While in the Containment Zone, the government has decided to keep the lockdown in force.

According to the guidelines issued by the Home Ministry, Unlock-2 has banned social, political, sports, entertainment, educational, cultural, and religious ceremonies and programs. In addition, the government has made it mandatory to wear masks in public places, workplaces, and during transportation to prevent the growing infection of the coronavirus. 

 In the new guidelines, states and union territories can identify buffer zones outside the containment zone. Where new cases are likely to come up. Within the buffer zone, restrictions are considered necessary that may be imposed by district officials. The Ministry of Home Affairs said that shops could be allowed to open according to the location of the corona in the area but, no more than five people should be present at a time. In addition, everyone will need physical distance.

The government has approved the clinical trial of COVAXIN, India’s first COVID-19 vaccine being prepared by Bharat Biotech. Soon its trial will start on humans. Let it be said that this is the first vaccine of Covid-19 being prepared in India, which has been approved for the clinical trial. 

Bharat Biotech is involved in making the vaccine in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Institute of Virology. It remains to be seen whether this vaccine is effective in clinical trials. Currently, more than 100 Covid-19 vaccines in the world are under various stages of vaccine development. The epidemic, he said, has highlighted the importance of global solidarity. At the same time, health should be seen as an investment, not as a cost.
