Mulayam Singh Yadav was born in Saifai village in Itawa district. Born into a peasant family, Mulayam has five siblings. Father Sudhar Singh Yadav wanted to make him a wrestler but after he impressed his political mentor Nathu Singh at Pahalwani at a wrestling match in Mainpuri, he began his political journey from Nath Singh’s constituency, Jaswant Nagar. Mulayam has been teaching at Inter College for some days before joining politics.
