Priya Ramani’s solution to MJ Akbar’s defamation case, court says

Former Union minister MJ Akbar has been hit by a Delhi court. Court acquits journalist Priya Ramani in defamation case Akbar’s application was dismissed. The court said the woman could still be heard years later and this was her right.

Ramani had alleged sexual harassment against Akbar, which he (Akbar) filed against him on 15 October 2018. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ravindra Kumar has reserved his verdict for February 10 after the arguments of Akbar and Ramani’s lawyers are completed.

However, the court adjourned the verdict on Feb. 10 to Feb. 17, as both parties filed their written arguments late, and the verdict was not fully written.

Ramani had alleged sexual harassment against Akbar in 2018 under Meathu’s social media campaign. However, Akbar has denied the allegations. Akbar resigned as Union Minister on 17 October 2018.
