Raar, Congressman said to take Nathuram Godse supporters to party – Bapu we are ashamed …

Gwalior Municipal Councilor Babulal Chaurasia, who was involved in the statue of Mahatma Gandhi’s murderer Nathuram Godse at the Hindu Mahasabha office some years ago, has been inducted into the Congress. Chaurasia, who left the Congress six years ago, rejoined the Congress party in the presence of Congress President Kamal Nath on Thursday in Bhopal.

The move comes ahead of local bodies elections in the state. However, this incident has created unrest in the Congress. While some leaders questioned the need to add “Godse followers” to the party, others defended the decision, saying that Chourasia had abandoned the ideology of violence and should go on the path of truth and non-violence shown by Gandhi.

Chaurasia called his return to Congress a “return,” and the leaders of the Hindu Mahasabha have said that they have been misled in the past. He was one of the leading members of the Hindu Mahasabha who conceived the Godse Temple. The Hindu Mahasabha installed a Godse statue in its office in 2017 after the Gwalior administration refused permission to build the temple. However, it was removed after the intervention of the administration.

Opposing Chaurasia’s return to Congress, former Union minister and former Congress president Arun Yadav tweeted: “Bapu we are ashamed.” Talking to PTI, he said, “Where is the party going? Why should Godse’s followers be included in the name of strengthening the party? We are embarrassed by this decision.”

“The Congress has always been fighting for Gandhi’s ideology and is now recruiting those who killed that theory and built the Nathuram Godse Temple in Gwalior city,” he said. “Asked if the Congress would include Bhopal’s controversial BJP MP, Pragya Singh Thakur. He called Godse a patriot and said he would not forgive Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the rest of his life.” Yadav said former state chief minister Kamal Nath had ordered an FIR against Chaurasia and his supporters for setting up the Godse Temple in Gwalior.

Meanwhile, Congolese spokesperson Narendra Saluja made a statement on behalf of Kamal Nath, in which he upheld the decision to include Chaurasia in the party and criticized the BJP (Chaurasia) as a Godse worshiper. “Chaurasia Godse has abandoned the theory of violence and has decided to follow Gandhiji’s theory of truth and non-violence,” he said. Saluja says, “Jyotiraditya Scindia and her supporters (‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ and Shivraj Singh Chauhan who called them farmers’ murderers and corrupt) and the BJP who made them ministers gave them seats.

Congress leaders said, “BJP MP Pragya Thakur called Godse a patriot and today he is trying to portray himself as a follower of Gandhi.”

Chaurasia defended his decision to rejoin the Congress, saying, “The Hindu Mahasabha gave me the ticket for the local bodies elections (Gwalior) and I was elected a councilor from Ward-44. Before that I was almost a congressman. “The leaders misled me and asked me to worship Godse. This is wrong and for the last two and a half years I have not attended any of its events,” he said.
