Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Somnath Bharati, who was convicted of assaulting Ames security guards in 2016, has been suspended for two years on Thursday. The order was accepted by the Magistrate’s Court on January 23 against the conviction by a special judge, Vikas Dhal, based in Rouse Avenue.
The special court directed the MLA of Malvia Bharti to issue the same amount of bail with personal bond of Rs 20,000. The magistrate’s court had ordered Bharti to pay Rs. However, the court granted him bail before the High Court challenging his sentence and sentence. Attorney Mohammed Irshad appealed on behalf of Bharati. The court found that AAP lawmakers were guilty under Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. These offenses carry a maximum of five years in prison. The court acquitted Bharti’s accomplices and co-accused Jagat Saini, Dilip Haha, Sandeep Sonu and Rakesh Pandey. The case was filed by Ames Chief Security Officer R.S. Submitted on the basis of Rawat’s complaint. Bharti had told the court that police officers and other witnesses had testified against him for making false allegations against him in this case.
